Happy Anniversary Jennifer and Jason

May 16, 2010

We want to wish Jennifer and Jason a very happy anniversary.

Monday marks the 1 year anniversary of their wedding-which is in actuality their 2nd anniversary. Confused? Well, Jason is serving our country in the military and was due to be deployed so they got married just before he shipped out. When he returned, about a year later, they got married again-this time with friends and family present.

This ceremony and their reception took place at the Pioneer Park Pavilion in beautiful Puyallup, WA on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon.

We are posting this video here in honor of their first, er second anniversary. Thank you for your trust and honor of being your photographer. We are so happy to hear you are in love with your photos, the album and this video.

God’s blessings,

Chris.

Getting Married in Pierce County, WA?

February 19, 2010

So 2010 is the year that you are planning to get married? Maybe 2011 or 2012? Or maybe you’re already married. Great! Congratulations.

Well, we are in the process of collecting nominations for 10 best places to get married in Pierce County, WA (we’re actually planning to produce a video that features these places). So if you have your venue or church picked out, let us know what it is and where it is so we can add it to our list. (of course, it helps in the venue is beautiful and not your backyard). At the top of our list so far is Laurel Creek Manor and Rock Creek Gardens.

So let us know your thoughts. Drop us an email at info@chrismckennaphotography or info@mckennavideo.com or look us up on facebook (http://www.facebook.com/mckennavideophoto ) and leave a note there.

We look forward to hearing from you. And we promise not to try and sell you something–unless you want us to. 🙂

Blessings,

Chris.

Wedding Planners in Pierce County, WA

TO STRESS OR NOT TO STRESS

Do you have a friend who is getting married, or are you getting married yourself? Have you ever been to a wedding which was chaotic and unorganized-where the wedding party didn’t know where to stand, the food was cold and the DJ stopped playing music leaving “dead air” during dinner? Awkward!?!?!

We have had the honor of documenting so many beautiful weddings over the years, some of which were well organized, others, well, could have used some (OK…a lot) of help. If you are a bride-to-be, my advice to you is to take that extra step to get new and innovative ideas, add a touch of luxury and alleviate the stress from your most beautiful wedding day.

We recently had the pleasure of meeting an amazing wedding planner/coordinator, Tricia Fisk, of Weddings Realized (www.weddingsrealized.com).  Her expertise in providing planning and coordinating services is evident in her personality and knowledge of her profession.  In the years that she has been in the “wedding business”, she has offered couples an opportunity to truly enjoy every aspect of their wedding, from the planning stages to the day of their union.

What many couples don’t realize is that someone needs to be the “go to guy”, especially the day of their wedding.  There are so many details that need to be attended to; delivery of the flowers, DJ, food, cake, making sure all parties needed for photos are in place and ready to smile, dress is flawless, officiant is present, and so many other needs.

Also, many couples don’t know that a wedding planner has great connections to other wedding professionals, and can refer you to an appropriate vendor. Often times a wedding planner can orchestrate and pass along a professional discount on flowers, rentals, venues etc. She can refer you to the best photographers and videographers in the area, where you can be sure that your wedding day is documented perfectly forever.

Couples preparing to be married should be able to concentrate on each other, not the minuscule details that can make or break their wedding day.  Hand these stress makers over to a pro.  I recommend that you call Tricia for a brief consult and see if she is a good fit for you.  Ensure that your wedding day runs smooth and beautiful. Hire a professional wedding planner. It will be so worth your while.

God’s blessings,

Chris.

Laurel Creek Manor – Another Great Place to Get Married

    October 4, 2009

A few weeks back, we had the opportunity to photograph a wedding at one of the nicest places that we’ve ever had the priviledge to shoot at: Laurel Creek Manor.

As I previously posted, Dee and Zac’s wedding was great. They were a great couple and with this awesome wedding venue (and also for other events) it was truly one of the highlights of our wedding photography career.

Laurel Creek Manor, located in Sumner, WA, has everything that a bride and groom could want in a venue. It has a large, beautiful suite that the bride can use to get ready, a seperate groom’s area, lots of windows with great light, manicured gardens, and large, outdoor ceremony and reception area, and plenty of rooom to move indoors should the weather take a turn for the worse. If you saw our previous entry, you’ll notice that there are a lot of areas to get some unique and wonderful photographs. Laurel and Kirsten were great to work with as well as the rest of the staff.

I would recommend Laurel Creek Manor to any couple who are looking for a great venue. Visit them online at http://www.laurelcreekmanor.com/ .

    Enjoy the video!

    Blessings,

    Chris.

The South Sound Wedding Show – Fashion Show Video

    September 28, 2009

First, I want to say a special thank you to all the brides- and grooms-to-be who stopped by my booth at the South Sound Wedding Show this last weekend, which was held at the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center. It was very nice to meet you and to talk with you all about your weddings. We would be honored to help you document your day in any way that we can.

I also want to thank Paula Lowe and the team at the South Sound Wedding and Event Magazine for putting together a great show. The facility was great and all the booths were incredible. And thank you also for having me be the official fashion show photographer. It was a lot of fun–the models were fabulous and the gowns, hairstyles, and makeup were incredible.

I put toghether this short video with some of the pictures that I shot. I hope that you enjoy.

And see you at the next show!!

    God’s blessings,

    Chris.

Dee & Zac: Our Life Begins Together

    September 22, 2009

All our best to Dee and Zac Bishop, who were married just a few short weeks ago at Laurel Creek Manor, in Sumner, WA.

We were honored to be chosen as the photographers for their incredible wedding. The day started out with a terrible rainstorm, and we were all concerned that with the rain the wedding might have to shift to plan B, but with a few prayers the rain lifted and their beatiful ceremony was allowed to proceed.

This video is a short montage of some of the photographs we took of their day.

Congratulations, Dee and Zac, and enjoy the video.

    God’s blessings,

    Chris.

McKenna Video Earns Best Wedding Videographer Nomination

    September 2, 2009

BOWWMcKenna Video has once again been nominated for Evening Magazine’s Best of Western Washington Wedding Videographer.

Last year, we placed 3rd with only 3 days of voting between our nomination and the time voting closed. That speaks volumes to us about you, our loyal customers and friends (we appreciate it and thank you for your support). This year, we have about a month between the nomination and the time voting closes and are hoping that the extra time translates into a few more votes.

So we are asking you to help us acheive the #1 spot in voting. Click on the banner above and you will be taken to our profile in the BOWW website, where you can vote for us.

Thank you so much for your support.

    Chris.

Another website up and going http://www.chrismckennaphoto.com

    June 28, 2009

Well, I hate to say it, but I have yet another photo website up and going. You can find it at:

    www.chrismckennaphoto.com

Right now, it is almost a mirror image to www.chrismckennaphotography.com. The goal with this site it to continue with my efforts to manage a website that google can actually find (I’m having all sorts of problems with the flash-driven, third-party site I currently use), to use as a proofing site for my clients, but eventually to serve as the site in which I can sell some of my work online.

Enjoy the slideshows and new site.

    Blessings,

    Chris

    A Customer Testimonial (Wedding Photography)

    June 11, 2009

Kristine and AndrewI received this testimonial today and I thought that I would share it with you.

“Chris is a very professional photographer who was very easy to work with. He was on time for all meetings and was very well organized the day of our wedding. I would recommend him to everyone I know. He has a great customer service attitude and his number one concern is his client’s satisfaction and happiness with his work. We were very pleased with the quality of his work and the time he spent to get the right shots on our big day. We were so glad we decided to go with Chris McKenna Photography for our special day. No regrets, only total satisfaction. ” ~ Kristine Richmond

Thank you, Kristine, for your nice sentiments and for giving us the honor of capturing your special day.

    God’s blessings,

    Chris.
